Day 10: Discharged!

After 9 days, yes, 9 days with no food or drink by mouth, Raimey got to eat!

Her choice was a hamburger, brown rice, fruit and soy milk.

She was surprisingly slow in eating but seemed to be enjoying the flavors as she went.

And she didn't really want to stop...but finally admitted that she was full.

After dinner, we made our last trip to the play room.

And Raimey got to pick a prize!

She bathed us in bubbles and was certainly

delighted about having food and being freed from the IV.

She had a non-stop smile about the prospect of going home soon.

Dr. Pena, her doctor and surgeon, requested we stay one more night

to make sure her food was tolerated.

But this morning, we were finally down to our last few steps

before heading out the door.

The plan is to have her PICC line removed shortly and then we get to go.

We will stay in Cincinnati at the Ronald McDonald House for 3 more days...

and go HOME on Friday.

Today marks two weeks away from my boys...and I am so ready to hold and hug them all again.

But, in the meantime, I am celebrating this little one's healing and recovery.

My heart is oh so thankful!
