However, I love remembering and sharing special events here, so I decided to share about Raimey's memorable day....the day she asked God to live in her heart.
She is young, of course, but her faith is huge. Raimey is four years old and has been home for a year and a half.
While getting Raimey dressed and ready for her day, (July 29) we were talking about our bodies, God's love, and the new bodies we'll have in Heaven. I do my best to talk about these things, sometimes not even knowing all the answers myself.
Those are all big topics but they start small with the discussion of owies, obeying and making good decisions that are pleasing to God, and the way that God chose Raimey to be in our family.
As our conversation continued, I told Raimey that because I love God, I asked God to live in my heart. I still know how I felt at a young age trying to envision a person living in my heart...it was hard to ponder, not understanding God in the spiritual realm rather than a human being. Nonetheless, I had the faith to believe and as I grew my understanding grew too.
Well, Raimey asked if God lives in my heart, if He lives in daddy's heart, too. I said yes and she proceeded to ask about God living in Darren's heart and Justin's heart. Of course, I shared that yes, they asked God to live in their hearts and someday we'll get to see Him in Heaven.
Without skipping a beat, Raimey said, "I want God live in my heart, too."
I asked her, "Do you love God?" Her response was emphatically, "YES!"
So, we proceeded to pray together, thanking God for loving us, and asking Him to come live in Raimey's heart.
I am not naive in my thinking that Raimey has total understanding of her decision, but I know that God will continue to show us ways we can share about Him each and every day. To follow up her decision to ask God into her heart, she asked Him if she could have a puppy in Heaven. I had to giggle and tell her to talk to God about that one.
After it was all said and done, Raimey has held strong to her decision. She obviously thinks about it often because several times over the last few days, she has proudly announced to me and others, "God live in my heart!" While we were driving my cousin to the airport, Raimey sat in her car seat next to her and looked over and asked, "God live in your heart?" My cousin, Jacinda, of course shared that she has God in her heart too. I couldn't help but smile thinking of my 4 year old missionary who will be sharing her faith with others at such a young age.
I am so thankful that Raimey already has a desire to know and love God. Her testimony is huge, even while she is small. God chose her from the other side of the world not only to show us love and how to love, but also to show us how to live.
